WHEREAS, This year Governor Gregoire proposed a budget for veterans and government accountability;
andWHEREAS, Returning soldiers will have more staff to contribute to their hospital and working with federal agencies to adjust disability issues with a budget of $291,000;
andWHEREAS, To aid homeless veterans she is allotting $53,000 to staff so they can prepare jobs for the veterans and also to provide them shelter;
andWHEREAS, The Governor's budget allocates $1.6 million into the preservation of government records;
andWHEREAS, I believe that we should take half of the budget for the preservation of records and allocate it towards the law enforcement budget to strengthen the police force and provide better technology to improve the safety of Washington State;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State Legislature use half the budget money originally allocated for the preservation of government records to improve the police force's effectiveness, and to increase the staff in government hospitals to aid the injured returning soldiers and the soldiers on the front lines.
