Immigration Resolution

WHEREAS, There are thousands if not millions of immigrants entering our nation each year; and
WHEREAS, 8% of Washington’s state population are immigrants; and
WHEREAS, These immigrants benefit our state by doing jobs that most Washington citizens don’t want to do; and
WHEREAS, The agriculture industry employs a large portion of the illegal immigrants living in Washington State; and
WHEREAS, The agriculture industry provides Washington with an estimated $5.4 billion for its economy;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the State of Washington will create a guest worker program that would allow immigrants to work in our state legally and fill our agricultural labor shortages.
