Environment Resolution for Eastern Washington

Walla Walla County

By, Alex and Stacey

The water supply of eastern Washington State has been depleting by an alarming rate annually. Whereas; if this trend continues, the eastern side of the state could run out of water; and if we do not act now we will be facing a very big problem because the projected population growth is 20% over the next 20 years or 350,000 people in Eastern Washington.
Whereas; we must act now to prevent depletion and try to regenerate our depleted water resources so there is enough water now and for the future. Whereas; our resolution is household plumbing uses an average of 69.3 gallons per day, such as toilets using 18.5 gallons per person per day, faucets using 10.9 gallons per person day, and showers using 11.6 gallons per person per day.
Whereas; there are now new technologies available for household plumbing that will reduce this average depletion of water per person per day.
Whereas; whenever a house is built or remodeled it is required to meet certain codes set by the government and.
Therefore; let it be resolved , the building codes will be amended to require the installation of water –conserving plumbing in all new and remodeled homes so that there is more water for now and Washington’s growth.
