ENERGY RESOLUTION

Solar Energy

WHEREAS: All energy that comes to this Earth originates at the sun.
WHEREAS: Through entropy, energy is lost each time it is converted in form.
WHEREAS: Therefore, the most efficient and consistent source of energy possible is solar.
WHEREAS: Global warming is becoming a global issue in today’s society.
WHEREAS: Coal, a polluting substance, produces 54% of our nation’s energy.
WHEREAS: Even a small solar energy collection system can cost thousands of dollars.
WHEREAS: This is prohibitively expensive for most families. Most people pass it over and market penetration is depressingly small.
WHEREAS: It is a proven fact that mass production/mass demand drives costs down as systems become more efficient and economies of scale kick in.
WHEREAS: Cheaper solar will be beneficial to Washingtonians on all sides.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: The government of the state of Washington should do all that is within its power to reduce the cost of solar energy and make it available to the common citizen.
