Election Reform Resolution

WHEREAS, the 2004 election for Washington State governor was decided by 129 votes; and
WHEREAS, numerous people have been found to have voted who were in fact dead before the election even happened; and
WHEREAS, nearly every year there are questions on the accuracy of tallying votes in the general election; and
WHEREAS, the process of absentee voting has been criticized much in recent years; and
WHEREAS, voters are not currently required to provide proof of identity when voting; and
WHEREAS, many people feel that requiring voters to show photo ID when voting would greatly reduce voter fraud; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that at polling places people should be required to present approved photo identification which contains a signature, and when voting by mail a copy of this identification must be included in order to be allowed to vote.
