Election Reform Resolution
Kittitas County 2008 KYG Party Platform
John H. III and Anna H.
Whereas, the Electoral College is not the best way and does not represent the People of the United States of America’s votes and believes that the President should be elected by the majority of the popular vote which does represent who people want for president. As it is a candidate can lose the popular vote but when enough electoral votes in order to become president.
Whereas, the people of the United States want a Primary election where you are able to vote for either party, not limited to one party or another. People want to be able to choose who they want for presidential candidates no matter what party they belong to and they should not have to declare loyalty to any one party in order to vote.
Whereas, the Candidates running for an office should be limited in their spending during the campaign. They should be responsible for spending as little as possible and have a maximum spending limit. We also believe that the campaign should be limited in time and there should be a day of declaration for president four months before the first primary in order to limit spending and the amount of time that the candidates waste. Thousands of dollars are wasted each year on the elections and hundreds of hours that all of the candidates, especial those already in an office such as senators, representatives or Governors
Whereas, the United States needs a third or fourth party. We need to push for this party in order to represent more of the population. The two party system that we have today makes it hard for new ideas to enter the pot. We are bound by the two parties and are not able to escape it. A third party could take new ideas and old ones to make a third option for people to vote for.
Now, Therefore, be it resolved, we can make the elections of this great nation’s leaders much easier and truly represent the citizens of the United States of America.
