WHEREAS, We believe in the protection of an individual’s money and property management and feel that an individual has the right to be able to spend, receive, and protect their money and assets. For these reasons we want to work toward lowering taxes for the American people.
WHEREAS, We believe that fewer products should be imported from foreign countries due to the recent problems surrounding the imports coming from foreign manufacturers. This would encourage more job availability in our own country with more strict regulations. Strict regulations would eliminate sweat shops, hazardous working conditions, and usage of hazardous materials. The money spent in our country would eventually boost our economy and over time begin to eliminate our countries foreign debts. For these reasons we want to fewer products imported from foreign countries.
WHEREAS, We believe that the use of natural renewable resources such as wind, water, and solar energies would better our environment while also bettering our economy. These renewable resources would create jobs which in turn would lower unemployment. For these reasons we want to use natural renewable resources.
WHEREAS, We believe that legalizing marijuana will reduce crime rate and increase tax revenue. With the increased tax revenue from the selling of legalized marijuana our economy will be bettered. We can use the tax revenue generated from selling legalized marijuana to fund the building of roads, schools, and parks. If our state is able to use the money generated from gambling to help fund schools we can use the money generated from legalized marijuana to help fund roads, schools, parks, etc. We do understand that there must be regulation set on who can buy legalized marijuana. We believe that only an adult should be able to purchase marijuana just as they can purchase tobacco. We believe that 18 years of age is a responsible adult-an 18 year old can vote, serve in the military, enter a legal contract, and also purchase tobacco. By legalizing marijuana it could also be used for medical reasons for patients who are terminal or who are seriously ill or injured. For the above mentioned reasons marijuana should be legalized.
WHEREAS, We believe that at 18 years of a person is a responsible adult. At the age of 18 an American citizen may enlist or can in some circumstances be drafted into the Armed Forces. At 18 years of age a person is able to vote for elected officials at local, state, and the national level. At 18 years of a person is able to enter into a legal contract such as marriage. The amount of Minor in Possessions and Minor in Consumptions would lower considerably due to the fact it will be legal to purchase and consume alcohol 3 years earlier than what is already set in place. For the previously mentioned reasons the drinking age should be lowered to 18 years of age.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That Kittitas County is for lowering taxes, are for natural renewable resources, we would see that fewer products are imported from foreign countries helping our countries debts and increase job availability. Kittitas County is also for increasing the rights of legal adults.
