ELECTION REFORM RESOLUTION

JEFFERSON COUNTY

WHEREAS, The money spent by political candidates and their supporters is obscene; and WHEREAS, The wealth of political candidates gives them a better chance to win; and
WHEREAS, The money used in political campaigns could be better used for other public purposes like education and universal health care;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, 1. That Washington should develop set strict budget guidelines for candidates in elections so no external money would be allowed. 2. That there should be no large corporate donations allowed. 3. That candidates should be required to self finance their elections. 4. That every candidate should have the same set amount of money to utilize for their campaigns, said budget to be established by an independent committee.
