Immigration Resolution

Whatcom County/Snohomish County

WHEREAS, The United States is a melting pot of people, cultures and ways of life; andWHEREAS, All men are created equal and have certain unalienable rights;
andWHEREAS, the US economy is strongly supported by immigrant labor in agriculture; andWHEREAS, Washington is a leader in agriculture in the nation;
andWHEREAS, legal immigration is key to providing workers for agriculture;
andWHEREAS, long-standing illegal immigrants take away from the quality of life of American citizens through failure to pay taxes and unregulated use of state support systems; andWHEREAS, deserving individuals should have the right to become US citizens to provide their children with basic needs such as adequate health care and education;
andWHEREAS, law enforcement needs the resources to help uphold citizens and naturalized citizens rights;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, legal immigration should be supported, situational amnesty granted and law enforcement shall be given the ability to enforce immigration laws.
