WHEREAS, natural disasters every year cause vast amounts of problems in our nation’s healthcare system;
WHEREAS, inadequate Disaster Awareness is a primary aspect of this issue;
WHEREAS, this lack of awareness results in exposing insufficient funding for preparations;
WHEREAS, it also contributes to more vulnerability to sustaining injuries and contracting sicknesses while dealing with disaster aftermath;
WHEREAS, adequate Disaster Awareness would increase public knowledge of funding concerns in order to give the issue higher priority;
WHEREAS, more extensive awareness would decrease the danger of contracting sicknesses or sustaining injuries;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that community wide awareness and education programs about natural disasters be made a national priority;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that informational campaigns and educational efforts be developed, and their effectiveness be evaluated and, where possible, continually improved.
