Health Care Resolution

County: Asotin

WHEREAS, In a random poll 3 in 5 voters were very concerned about the lack of health insurance in Washington State.
WHEREAS, 20% of Washington Citizens lack proper health care do to the high costs.
WHEREAS, In 2003-2005 Washington State Budget boosted Washington’s uninsured rate up 9.4% which doesn’t allow minors to receive the proper health care they should be given because of the high costs of insurance.
WHEREAS, One in Three people in Washington State who make under $18,000 a year go without health care insurance.
WHEREAS, Almost half of all personal bankruptcies are caused by medical costs.

WHEREAS, Uninsured people are also more likely to avoid medical help for them and their children due to high costs and are more at risk for even more costly problems that could take their life.
WHEREAS, Each year in Washington, 350 adults and children die from lack of proper treatment because they cannot afford it.
WHEREAS, When people lose their healthcare insurance, tax paying citizens pay for the medical costs such as ambulances and emergency services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That a universal health care system be provided for every minor under the age of 18 no matter what level of income their parents provide them with or if they even have health insurance.
