WHEREAS, It is agreed that six know greenhouse gasses are: carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, sulfur hexafluoride, hydoflurocarbons, and perfluorocarbons.
WHEREAS, The increased presence of greenhouse gases have been linked to an increase of our global temperatures, thus indicating climate change or “global warming”.
WHEREAS, The largest share of historical and current global emissions of greenhouse gases has originated in developed countries.WHEREAS, The burning of fossil fuels and deforestation is leading to higher carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas concentrations.
WHEREAS, The Kyoto Protocol is an agreement under which industrialized countries will reduce their collective emissions of greenhouse gases by 5.2% compared to the year 1990 (but note that, compared to the emissions levels that would be expected by 2010 without the Protocol, this limitation represents a 29% cut).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that our main objectives as to the environment should be to reduce Greenhouse gases that cause climate change and agree to ratify and enforce the terms of the Kyoto Protocol as a global means to control our greenhouse gasses and severity of climate change.
