Energy Resolution

WHEREAS, the United States is a large consumer of energy and energy-containing resources; andWHEREAS, these resources will eventually be depleted and other sources will become necessary;
andWHEREAS, early preparation for the move to alternative fuels before it becomes a necessity will lessen the negative impacts of an abrupt change;
andWHEREAS, alternative fuel sources are becoming more readily available in local communities,
andWHEREAS, supporting local fuel sources such as biodiesel will help local economies by providing more jobs;
andWHEREAS, total dependence is not a logical option for alternative fuels at the current time, yet promotion at a local level will increase awareness and consciousness;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the state shall provide incentives for public transportation systems, school district and local government vehicles to run on alternative fuels such as biodiesel.
