Alex Bistrevsky
Spokane County
Hello, I am a candidate to become the 2008 4-H KYG Party Governor. I am Alex Bistrevsky and I am the candidate of the Spokane County
4-H KYG team. I am 17 years old and I attend Spokane Community College as a full time Running Start student. When I finish my Associate of Arts degree I plan to transfer to Whitworth University.
You might have noticed my unusually long last name and wondered where I was from. My parents immigrated from the Ukraine and I was born in Tacoma, Washington. But even as an American my parents urge me not to forget my Russian roots. I am an American kid, but I have been lucky to have a broader perspective, which I would bring to the office of the 4-H KYG Party Governor’s Office.
4-H has been a big part of my life. I am excited about running for the governorship. I like the fact that I will be able to interact with a diverse group of people who share my interests, will give me new ideas, and share my hard working personality to make 4-H better.
Throughout my six years of experience in 4-H I have I have learned many leadership qualities. First of all, I am a team player. I do not seek gratification for my work, but rather success for my group. Second, I thin slice situations and look for the best solution that will benefit everyone, not to mention I work to make everyone feel welcome in the discussion. The reason that I am so excited about the governorship is that I learned these skills by being a 4H member. Through local, regional, and statewide leadership activities (such as 4-H club activities, Teen Rally, and KYG) I have learned the importance of actively participating in group work and even community service.
I would like to serve you as the 2008 4-H KYG Governor. I hope to count on your vote.
