WHEREAS, The average price of attending college has become more and more expensive in both housing and tuition, with the average cost for tuition at a public four-year school being approximately $6,185 per year;
andWHEREAS, Pursuing a higher education has proven to be a worthy endeavor because graduates generally earn more each year than those who haven’t earned a degree; andWHEREAS, The costs of traveling to and from, and living in a different city contributes to the cost of higher education;
andWHEREAS, Colleges often construct extra buildings such as recreation centers, arenas, and stadiums designed to entertain the student population;
andWHEREAS, Some towns have other means to entertain their student population;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the State of Washington will construct several small, local colleges that provide quality educations to their students without supplying extra entertainment at the students expense so that they can receive a higher education without the added expense of living in a foreign city.
